Katya Izabel Filmus born in 1976 An international sculptor, designer and educator working primarily in kiln cast glass, Katya exhibited and taught extensively in Israel, England, Netherland, Venice, Spain, Scotland, Finland and USA. She earned a BFA in Ceramics and Glass from the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design, Israel in 2002 specialising in sculpture. In 2003 Katya established her first studio in a Jerusalem based glass factory, where she developed product ranges for the factory alongside her own sculptural work. She was a lecturer at Bezalel Academy, and at Shenkar Collage in Israel until 2009, when she moved to the UK to undertake an MA at the university of Sunderland. She graduated with distinction and in 2010 established a studio at the National Glass Centre in the UK undertaking large-scale commissions and projects. Now relocated to Israel, Katya’s studio is in TLV where she continues to create experiment, think and feel in glass.
